Without your passphrase or recovery key, your existing notes cannot be recovered.

Contact the server owner to reset the vault and start empty. Restarting the server alone will not reset it.

Set up encryption

Current Vylk password

This permanently starts a new, empty vault.

Your old notes cannot be opened or restored in Vylk.

A protected copy stays on this server for 30 days, then is deleted.

Other devices must use the new passphrase. Their unsynced old-vault changes will be discarded.

Passphrase

I understand this passphrase is easy to guess

Repeat passphrase

Write down your recovery key

These 24 words can unlock your notes if you forget your passphrase. Save them somewhere private, away from this device.

Pasting is turned off to help confirm you saved this key. Enter each word from your saved copy. If you forget your passphrase and lose this key, no one can recover your notes.

Enter word 1 (1/24)

I understand this starts an empty vault and the old notes cannot be recovered

Before you turn on encryption

If you forget your passphrase and lose your recovery key, no one can get your notes back. Make sure you have saved the key somewhere private.

Delete this note?

This removes the note from this device and syncs the deletion to your other devices.

Restore default settings?

This resets your appearance, editor, Zen mode, and shortcut settings. Your notes are not affected.

Restore default shortcuts?

Your custom shortcuts and prefix will be replaced with the defaults.

Notes database changed

This address now serves a different notes database. Switching permanently discards this browser’s cached notes and changes that haven’t synced, then connects to the new database.

To keep your pending changes, restart Vylk with the previous database and notes directory, then reload. Notes saved on that server won’t be deleted.
